Blairsville, GA
Blairsville, Georgia is located in North Georgia just 30 minutes northeast of Blue Ridge. Blairsville a charming town, is the county seat of Union County with a county population of about 28,000. Blairsville is the home of the regional hospital Union General and has several smaller industries. Blairsville is a larger town than Hiawassee, Hayesville and Young Harris and as such boast a much larger full time population but still on the smaller side by a city standard across Georgia.
The centerpiece of Blairsville is a restored Courthouse ( Museum) Square with a wonderful retail and dining presence in close proximity. Blairsville also has a retail strip along Hwy 76/515 that supports many of the Box stores and franchise restaurants located in other towns including Home Depot, Walmart, Long Horns, Ingles, Chicfilet etc.
Other features that Blairsville has to offer is the Tennessee Valley Authority Lake Nottley and Vogel State park as well as Butternut Creek Golf Course. The lake and State Park are about 10 minutes outside town. Lake Nottley is a TVA operated reservoir that contains around 4,180 surface acres and approximately 106 miles of shoreline. Lake Chatuge is approximately 25% more pricey than Lake Nottley. Winter draw down levels are greater on Nottley at approximately 15 feet between Summer highs and Winter lows.
Blairsville does still have a good bit of undeveloped rural land but recent years have given rise to numerous subdivision development. I would say that Blairsville would have more inventory for homes than Towns County GA and Clay County NC combined at any given time. The Real Estate Market prices are similar to Neighboring Hiawassee/Towns County and Hayesville/Clay County except for Lake Frontage.
